Concerts & Events

Magnificent romanticism – our passion. At the beginning of this year's WoertherSee Classics Festival, we devote ourselves to the rise of this era. The Land of Carinthia will once again be filled with works and sounds of fundamental importance for the romantic world of music.

The festival celebrates its opening with a piece composed at the Wörthersee - the second symphony by Johannes Brahms. After the break, Scheherazade by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov will be heard - one of the most important compositions in the Russian-symphonic literature. Alexei Kornienko will be conducting this evening.

On the 8th of June, the evening will be dedicated to an artistic portrait of our artist in residence 2017 - Franz Hummel. On the next evening the brilliant piano duo Eduard and Johannes Kutrowatz will be performing the program "Donauwellen" with works by Johann Strauss and Johannes Brahms.

The final concert is a charmingly romantic bridge to the first evening. At first the audience will be hearing the Symphony espagnole for violin and orchestra in the interpretation of Elena Denisova. Finally the evening will be  completed by Tchaikovsky´s fifth symphony, conducted by Tao Fan.
