Concerts & Events

This year's WoertherSee Classics Festival is dedicated to the artistic aspects of romantic and contemporary epochs in the usual sumptuous style. But this year the festival is swinging with a subtle religious "undertone".

The prelude will be celebrated with Sergei Rachmaninoff's second concert. After the break, Johanes Brahms's third symphony will be heard. The Györ Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Principal Conductor Kálmán Berkes and Alexei Kornienko at the piano will be leading this evening.

On the 7th of June, the evening will be themed "Women, also men". The audience is presented with poetry by Austrian poets by Cornelius Obonya, which are arranged in a dialogue of musical treasures, Elena Denisova - violin and Thomas-Michael Auner - cello.

The following evening of piano jewels filled with works by Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven - Maximilian Kromer meets the piano.

At the final concert, the festival's management succeeded in incorporating his work "Matthäus Passion" into the program design with the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeev. The Gustav Mahler Ensemble, the Concert Choir of the Dommusik Klagenfurt and the Student choir of the Carinthian State Concervatory are directed by Murad Annamamedov. A worthy conclusion to honor the 500th anniversary of the gift of the city of Klagenfurt!
